Safety Products

The first thing law enforcement and emergency personnel are trained to look for when they encounter someone is a medical alert bracelet or other identification.

CLEAR recommends that all individuals with special needs wear an ID bracelet or other identification product, particularly those that are young, non-verbal or have trouble remembering.  Following are some sources for these products for your reference that you may find helpful.

Medical ID Bracelets

Medic IDs International or 818-705-0595
Silver, gold filled or 14K gold bracelets, pendants and watch charms.  Free repair and re-engraving if necessary.

MedicAlert or 888-633-4298
MedicAlert has a large selection of medical symbol emblems available in stainless steel, gold and sterling silver.  You can attach the emblems to bracelets, necklaces or sports bands in a variety of styles.  They also carry designer beaded bracelets.

MedicAlert emblems work a little differently than other identification products because instead of having the individual’s name, address and telephone, the emblems are engraved with the individual’s MedicAlert Member ID, primary medical conditions and MedicAlert’s 24-Hour Emergency Response Center number. Special note:  A teal-colored medical symbol representing Alzheimer’s Disease is available as part of a partnership with the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

Wearable ID Products (non-jewelry)

Sometimes people dislike wearing jewelry but still need an ID.  Or, your special person may need a wearable ID when wallet IDs aren’t practical such as at the beach.  These are good options.

Location Identifiers

These products can help you identify the location of a person if they wander away.  Some are for short distances such as at a mall or amusement park, and others are for longer distances.

Ion Kids Monitoring System or 888-8-IONKIDS (1-888-846-6543)

The ionKids system allows you to monitor up to four people or tagged objects at once. Children, seniors, pets or anything you might lose and want to keep safe. The system consists of a base unit, a handheld device that allows parents to monitor up to four tags simultaneously and a wrist tag. Tag holders can be purchased separately and can be clipped onto belt loops or lanyards; wrist tags can be locked on children's wrists. ionKids lets you set a variable zone around the base unit so you will know when your child wanders to far. If you can't find them, use the locating device and let it show you where to go to find them.  Range is 350 feet outdoors and 200 feet indoors.

WanderCARE 100T
WanderCARE 100T provides monitoring of a wanderer in and out of the home. The system alerts the caregiver when the wanderer goes beyond a set range and provides tracking capability up to 1 mile so that the wanderer can be located and returned.

Care Trak of California or 800-997-8050

Care Trak Products have been specifically designed to enable monitoring and locating of individuals at risk for wandering or getting lost. All Care Trak systems require the potential wanderer to wear a 1 ounce water-proof wrist or ankle transmitter attached by a tamper-resistant band.   As seen on TV on “Extreme Makeover:  Home Edition” and “Lost without a Trace”.

Sentry Door Alarm System can monitor up to 8 doors in your home.  If the person wearing the transmitter attempts to go out a monitored door, an alarm sounds and a status panel will alert the caregiver as to what door has been opened. Visitors can come and go without the alarm sounding.

Products include:
The Sentry Invisible Perimeter Alarm System - This system establishes an adjustable invisible boundary in a circle around the unit. As long as your loved one wearing a Care Trak wrist transmitter stays within the boundary nothing alarms. If they walk beyond the invisible boundary, the Sentry Perimeter will alarm. This unit is 100% portable with no buried wires and can be taken with you for safety wherever you go. For areas without electric current, the unit operates on "AAA" batteries. The Care Trak Mobile Locater is included with this unit.

Care Trak Mobile Locater. The home version of the Care Trak Mobile Locater can quickly find your loved one who wanders off. This user-friendly unit can locate a wandered person up to one mile on the ground day or night, inside or outside. If a helicopter is needed, this range will increase up to 10-15 miles. The Mobile Locater is 100% portable and can be taken on vacations or outings with complete confidence.

All Care Trak products are available as a purchase or monthly rental. Contact Care Trak for details.
